I’m listening to Falling in Love with Jesus by Jonathan Butler
I attended my first networking event today, and I met some of the most intriguing and incredible women who reside and run their very own companies right her in the metroplex. I am happy to say, I look forward to many more events and functions like this! These women were very warm, welcoming and supportive of each others business. Let me tell you about them…
AnnMarie Smith – She’s an Independent Consultant for this fascinating company called Taste of Home Entertaining. You know us, women love to entertain guest, family, friends and in-laws. And, we surely love to do it in style. When I tell you that tupperware has been reinvented, IT’S BEEN REINVENTED AND PUT TO SHAME!! J Looking through the catalog has been like reading a great chapter from your favorite novel. You never want to put it down, even though you’ve read (in my case, LOOKED) at it a hundred times. You see something you missed, your understanding breaks down the more, which entices you to read more (in my case, create a shopping list of what I want to buy from this catalog). Okay, so you’re probably wondering what the heck is “Taste of Home Entertaining”. Well I’ll tell you a little bit and then you can check out AnnMarie’s website for more information. TOHE offers beautiful and elegant products to embellish your home when entertaining your guest! They offer Hi-end Vases, Casserole Dishes, Exquisite Lanterns, Musical CD’s to embrace the mood, picnic or moonlighting dishware and complete place settings that I’m sure your visitor’s will talk about time and time again. Until you get the hint of course that their waiting you to spill the beans and share where you got it from! That’s another cool perk; you can partner with AnnMarie and start your own Taste of Home Entertaining Business. The summers coming, and quickly thereafter the merry holidays will be looking for you to do something different and interesting. Check out TOHE and turn your home space into a work of art, better yet turn those dull and “hmm.. What’s the word I’m looking for?” “Yes, Predictable!” home entertainments into a lasting impression and opportunity for someone who may be looking to facelift their home environment or embark upon a new career! Visit http://annemariesmith.tohe.com
Oh wait I almost forgot, AnneMarie offers Bridal Registry!!! So, Brides to be, and Wives to come can register for anniversaries, special events and new house warming parties. Check out our events calendar to see when OfficeLatte wil be attending one of her next parties!
Hilary Johnson – Owner of 57 Design Studio. This lady has a lot of patience and creative talents when it comes to designing the perfect pieces of jewelry. Some are one of kind pieces, while others can compliment women of a bridal party or mother and daughter looking to have a twin night! Anywho, Hilary was able to showcase some of her pieces for us today. They were incredible and beautiful! The prices were just right and the quality spoke very loud and clear! If I were passing your way I’m sure the first thing you’d noticed, besides my billion dollar smile, is the custom blingage draping my neck, wrist and earlobes! For real! J One of the cools things I learned about Hilary is that she’s passionate about every piece she creates, some have taken as long as 4 hours to complete. When I saw it, believe me the woman who adopts it will truly be in for treat. I tried on a lovely necklace, and oh it was to die for! It actually complimented my outfit I eas was wearing; it had matching earrings and a bracelet! It was trademarked with circle shapes, just like OfficeLatte and shared the same similar color pallettes as OfficeLatte! I could see all different types of personalities rocking Artisan Jewelry Handcrafted by Hilary Johnson! Now you’re probably wondering, now what piece is Taylor talking about, I’ve got to see this! Well visit http://www.57designstudio.com or check our events calendar to see when we’ll be attending one of her next exhibits!
Jennifer Luney – Owner of Young Chefs Academy in Carrollton. What she does is very neat! Jennifer combines education and eating into one big happy moment. She runs a cooking school for Kids, having recently just added an Adult Class. I believe the Adult Classes would be a great gift to Newlyweds or Seasoned Couples looking to do something interesting! I know because, I was a hamburger helper pusher. I couldn’t tell you anything about frying chicken or steak some 16 years ago!! YCA offers cooking classes, birthday parties, field trips, summer camps and workshops for children of all ages starting at like 3 years old. I believe it’s so important to keep our children’s mind developing properly and broadening their horizons through positive cultural amusement! It’s also a great “personal to-do thing” with your son or daughter. Your child could use some great formal cooking instructions, as they head off to college or want to be more involved at home. I would absolutely love for my children to have dinner waiting once a week, when coming home from a long day of work! Because Ramen Noodles are starting to, uhh.. Drive me on a hunger strike!! Just kidding, you gotta love those noodles! Hmm.. Maybe Jennifer can teach us how to transform those noodles into a gourmet dish! I know on of her first Adult Classes will be cooking Steak!! Check out http://www.youngchefacademy.com/carrollton to learn more about scheduling a cooking class for the kids or yourself!!
Cindy McMillon – Business Developer for American Receivable. She really broke it down for us, business owners, when it comes to financing business transactions. When I first met her, she stated she was involved with Factoring. I was like oh my, I have no idea, what this is and how could our conversation further if I’m unable to communicate and understand the terminology! But, wait a minute there’s more… I went back to communication 101 – ASK QUESTIONS?! “So Cindy, what is Factoring?” I asked. What a relief, she briefly explained it to me, and later in our networking I was able to listen to her and Jennifer elaborate on Factoring a little more. Here’s what her company had to say about it: “Simply put, factoring is a low-cost form of financing where a company turns its Accounts Receivable over to another company and receives payment early.” I enjoy learning new things; it’s one of the top methods I use to become a successful entreprenuer.
Linda Velasquez – A true Texan and Owner of Howdy Y’all Greeters! She’s the perfect personality that greets new home owners with a pink goodie bag. She made me smile and feel welcomed and I wasn’t even getting a bag! LOLs! Some people were just designed to make others smile and I have to say she is definitely one of them. You know it can be overwhelming when moving into a new home, and what better way to feel a sense of comfort than having a complete stranger come from miles away to say, “Howdy Y’all, Welcome to the Neighborhood!” She sort of reminded me of Paula Dean, the grandmother or mother we all either wish we had, or reminds us of!! So, don’t be shocked when Linda and her team greet you with a heartwarming gift! Now that’s being socially-responsible – even if its just for a moment people are able to smile and forget about their worries, so they can be honored and congratulated for taking a major step to live their american dream of home ownership! You may want to help out, check out her website at http://www.howdyallgreeters.com
And then of course, there’s our Event Moderator…
Ann Wald – Ann is a Financial Services Officer for First Bank. Now, although there are only about 100 FB locations in the DFW Metroplex, I like the fact that the services they can offer are more personal and not overshadowed by poor customer service from MAJOR Banks servicing the locals. Ann’s drive to bring together a group of women from all walks of life - and who all have multiple agendas to reach for success – has built a strong platform for all of us to come together and share our entrepreneurial passions. Today, she graced us with a speaker by the name of Ken Sutter with Ken Sutter Car Care. It was great! We were able to learn valuable information when it comes to caring for our vehicles. Especially during this time of $100 gas fill-ups! He even provided us with a list of “Do It Yourselfers to Manage Your Day to Day Automobile Performance”. Ann is ready to consult you on any of your financial management, portfolio or transactions – personally, professionally and socially! You can find Ann at First Bank, 2012 Midway Road, Plano, TX 75093 972-473-9000
Be Well.. Love much,
Taylor!
